Continuing our legacy of assisting those in need after hurricanes (serving as a makeshift hospital after Katrina, serving as a shelter after multiple storms and more), less than a week after hurricane Ida, members of Belle Chasse UMC along with our pastor Rev. JoAnne Pounds we’re assisting with recovery efforts.

Volunteers from Belle Chasse UMC and other area congregations working in our Relief Supply Center after Hurricane Ida.

Through a partnership with the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Department supplies went down the road with supplies via helicopter and humvee. Since then we have helped organize multiple relief teams who have tarped houses and removed mold and debris from homes and also provided thousands of pounds of food and thousands of dollars of additional relief supplies to folk in need following the storm. This has been possible due to partnerships with other churches, the United Methodist Committee on Relief and generous individual donors.

If you are a homeowner in need of assistance from possible future relief teams, please contact us via phone or our contact page.

If you would like to support our relief efforts please make a donation designated for “relief.”

Please continue to hold all impacted by Ida and other hurricanes in your prayers.
